Christmas ProgramWe want to thank the students, parents, and teachers for last night’s Christmas performance. We extend a special thank you to Mr. Acosta, music teacher. Our Christmas Program was a success.

Family MassPlease join us for our fifth grade Family Mass at 5:00 p.m. this Saturday, December 18.
Choice Lunch Program
Fourth grade parents it’s your turn to assist with our lunch program. If you are interested in earning lunch credit for your child please call the school office ASAP. You need to be fingerprinted and attend the Virtus class.

Tamale FundraiserMonday, December 13 was the last day to pre-order for tamales.
Pick up date your pre-cooked and frozen tamales are on Wednesday, December 15 from 3-5 p.m. in the school yard.

Center for the ArtsThis week (December 13-17) is the last week of our Art & Dance Class! Thank you so much for participating, and don’t forget
to sign up for next semester.

Pre-school Feasibility We get many questions and calls about pre-school. It is important for us to determine if there is a need before we start the process to open a pre-school. A feasibility study is required of us. Enclosed is a feasibility questionnaire. Please complete and return the questionnaire by this Friday, December 17, 2010.

Second Week
 Of Advent!


Immaculate Conception Mass
Wednesday, December 8, at 9:00 a.m. Mass we celebrate the great solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We go to church to worship God for giving us Mary, who was pure, holy, and worthy of becoming the mother of Jesus Christ. God gave Mary the special grace to be completely pure-free from any stain of original sin. This is what we mean when we call her Mary of the “Immaculate Conception.” “Immaculate” means free from the stain of all original sins.

Students are to wear their complete uniform. Please remind your child to not wear shorts for our Immaculate Conception Mass.


Raffle Drawing
Raffle drawing winners were three of our very own families. Densel Martin, fourth grade won $150 for third prize, Robin Tolentino, first grade won $250 for second prize and Mr. Dennis Martin, and parent of Emma, first grade and Deena, fourth grade won $750 for first prize. Thank you to all our families for your support by selling or purchasing the $75.00 raffle tickets.

Jeans Day
Friday, December 10 students may wear jeans and any Christmas color t-shirt for $1.00. Pay an extra $1.00 for Christmas accessories.  Proceeds will go to St. Vincent de Paul at St. Dominic Parish to feed the needy families during the Christmas Holidays.

Christmas Program
School Choirs: We sing at the School Christmas Program on December 13 and at the Children’s Christmas Mass on Friday, December 24 at 5:00 P.M.
A pre-Mass prelude will begin at 4:45 p.m. PLEASE BE HERE BY 4:30 P.M. in the church, wearing choir attire (white shirt/blouse, black pants/shirts for girls).

Santa’s Workshop
Starting Monday, December 13 students will have an opportunity to shop for mom, dad, sister, brother, or other family members. Please place money for kinder, first, and second grade students in an envelope. The parents assisting in Santa’s Workshop will make proper change and receipt for the students.

Kinder: girls wear white dress; boys wear black or navy pants with white long sleeve shirt
First Grade: girls wear black dressy pants with white top or white dressy dress; boys wear black pants with white long sleeve shirt
Second Grade: wear dressy Christmas clothing
Third Grade: wear Sunday best/ Christmas attire or choir attire
Fourth Grade: wear Sunday best/Christmas attire
Fifth Grade: wear choir, dressy Christmas top, pants & shirts (colors: red, green, gold, and white)
Sixth Grade: Black dressy pants, no jeans, red, white, or green shirt (solid color-no logos), girls wear dressy Christmas attire
Seventh Grade: wear black long pants & skirts with white blouse & white shirt
Eighth Grade: boys wear black pants & either a solid red, white or black shirt. Girls
wear black skirt & tights, and either a red, white, or black blouse

Family Mass
Please join us for our fifth grade Mass on Friday, December 18. Fifth grade parents will provide dessert and coffee after the 5:00 p.m. Mass.

Make-Up Picture DayPlease be on time for make-up picture day that will start at 8:15 am promptly for those who were absent. Students need to wear their green sweat shirt with green or white polo shirt.

First Friday Mass85th Anniversary T-Shirts
Students are asked to wear their anniversary t-shirt for First Friday Mass on December 3.
Students are to only wear their 85th t-shirt for First Friday Mass.

Mandatory Raffle Tickets All money and stubs are due by this Thursday, December 2. Raffle drawing is after our Morning Prayer assembly on Friday, December 3 at about 8:15 a.m.  Winner need not be present.

Parent/Teacher ConferencesParent/teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, December 2 and Friday, December 3. Sign-up forms were sent home on Monday, November 15 for parents to select a day & time. Please call the school office if you have not returned the sign-up form @ 323-255-5803 for available space.

ITBS TestingTeachers will review your child’s ITBS results during the teacher/parent conferences. The student profile narrative presents the National Stanine and National Percentile Rank.

Vision Screening Our parish nurse, Mrs. Laurente, will do our vision screening next Tuesday, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. Seventh and fifth grade will have screening on Dec. 7. Kinder, first, second, new students and referrals will have screening on Tues. Dec. 14.

Santa’s WorkshopMrs. Riza Jose will continue to chair our Santa’s Workshop this year. If you signed up to assist during the week of December 13 to 17 and still interested in helping please call the school office ASAP. Mrs. Jose will contact you.

Fresh & Easy Shop for SchoolsWant to earn easy Service Hours! We need a parent to send our receipts at the end of the Fresh & Easy program. The receipts would need to go out at the end of December. If you are interested please call the school office ASAP @ 323-255-5803.

Discovering Our FaithPlease join us for the fourth series of lectures on Discovering Our Faith on Tuesday, December 14 at 7:30 pm.
Fr. Michael will lecture on The Trial, Death, and Burial of Jesus on Tuesday, December 14. Christ’s Resurrection, Ascension, & Second Coming will be the second part of the lecture. Please bring a copy of the Catholic Catechism.
