Food for Family Thought
My one friend’s house was fancy and filled with toys, but we never played there. Another friend’s house was simple, but we crowded into his living
room daily with his many siblings and parents who lit up with joy when we entered their home. How welcoming do you make your home? Is there more that you can do?

If you could add any one thing to your home to make it truly spectacular—something that would amaze everyone who visited you—what would you add?

A responsible and respectful person who:
  • understands his or her innate value and value of others as beloved children of God.
  • is self-confident and self-motivated and has the inner strength to make moral, compassionate, and healthy choices.

Food for Family Thought
When asked what it would take to get to heaven, Jesus said, “Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and clothe the naked.” That’s what
parents do each day. It’s a paradox that our greatest happiness comes when we freely give of ourselves. Think about that the next time you’re fixing supper or folding laundry.

When it comes to things that make you really happy, what five things would you rank at the very top?

Is “Bible Christianity” Biblical?
By Fr. Jerome Cudden, O.P.
Today it is popular to hear “Bible” Christians (aka non-denominational and “born again”) claim the Bible is the sole basis of the Christian faith and that Catholicism professes non-Biblical teachings.  But what insights do history and the Bible gives us regarding these topics?  By analyzing the history of the Christian faith and

doctrines that are central to it, Fr. Jerome will help us to understand what Bible Christianity is and what it is not.  Fr. Jerome will present his talk on Monday, May 21st at 9:00 a.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. in the adult education building, which is located directly behind the Church.
Book Fair
Our buy one get one free Book Fair starts Tuesday, May 29 and end Thursday, May 31.
You can buy a book and get one free at the same price as the first book.

Buy your books for summer reading! Avid readers, this is the time to stock your library.

The book fair will take place in the school library.

Food for Family Thought
One task of parents is to help their children develop the skills of discernment—that is to make wise choices. This is better taught through example and by establishing wise limits than by coercion and criticism.

If you could have one hundred of anything right now, what would you choose?

If you could open the back door to your house and step out into the perfect backyard, what would that yard be like? Be as specific as you can.

If you were in charge of creating a brand-new park for your town or city, what would the park feature and what could you do to make it truly different from any other park you’ve seen?
