Preschool at St. Dominic
We need 10 children to begin our preschool this fall. If your child is 3 years or 4 years old and interested in enrolling for preschool in the fall 2011 please call the school ASAP.

St. Dominic School at Pinkberry
Visit Pinkberry in the Americana, Glendale on Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3 and help St. Dominic earn 20% of purchases. When visiting the yogurt place please                             mention that you are from St. Dominic School.

First Communion Practice
Second grade students and parents have practice on Saturday, April 30 at 9:00 a.m.
Students will be given seating arrangement and practice of music for Mass.

First Grade Family Mass
Family Mass for the first grade has been moved from Saturday, April 16 to
Saturday, May 21st.

Yearbooks
ORDER YOU YEARBOOK NOW! Last opportunity to pre-order, end this Thursday, April 21.

Cost of yearbook increases to $35.00 starting May 2.

Lunch Program
Kinder parents it is that time to volunteer for the Choice lunch program. Parents earn $20.00 per hour of service, 11:30-12:30.
If interested please call the school office ASAP.
Parents need to be fingerprinted and attend Virtus session for safeguard the children.

Mathletics
Students were given their http://www.mathletics.com/ username and password today.
The parent letter explains all about Mathletics and instructs how to log into the parent center to monitor your child’s progress.

Eagle Rock Center for the Arts
Our after school program for dance and art ends this Wednesday, April 13.

Center for the Arts classes will resume in the fall of 2011.

Islands Fundraiser
We want to thank Mrs. Gravino for setting up the Islands Family Night. Parents and parish supporters brought in $560.20 for the PTO technology funds. It was nice to see parents and teachers at this fun event.

Yearbooks
ORDER YOU YEARBOOK NOW! Pre-orders end next Thursday, April 21.

Registrations
Registration for returning students was due by March 31. If your registration form for your student has not been returned please call the school office ASAP to inform us of your intent.

Walk-a-Thon
Our walk-a-thon event has been moved to Saturday, May 21. This is the last mandatory fundraiser of this school year for parents to complete service hours.  

Mr. & Mrs. Ponce are in need of many volunteers for this event. If you need service hours and would like to help there is a planning meeting on Wed. April 13th @ 6:30 pm. in the library.

Talent Show
Talent Show coming on Friday, May 13!
Try-outs are scheduled for the week of April 18-20.

Students need to have their music (CD or tape) or props when they try-out for the talent show. 

First Grade Family Mass
Family Mass for the second grade has been moved from Saturday, April 16 to
Saturday, May 21st.

Service Hours
We are in need of volunteers to inventory the Halloween and Casino items. We also need a volunteer to inventory the 65th and 85th anniversary pictures and brochures. Please call the school office @ 323-255-5803 ASAP if interested.

Math Tutor
Joseph Carreon, St. Dominic alumni, currently at La Salle High School is available for tutoring on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 and 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Please call for appointment: 323-259-9454.

Jeans Day
Students may wear jeans for $1 and $1 for extra accessories this Friday, April 15. Please have students refer to the student handbook for proper attire. All funds will go to the Maria Martin Family.

Discovering Our Faith
Join us tonight April 12 for the lecture of Discovering Our Faith on The Forgiveness of Sins & Resurrection of the Body. The
lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Please bring a copy of the Catholic Catechism and take time to read over the paragraphs before the session.

Scoliosis Screening
Seventh & eighth grade boys and girls will have scoliosis screening this Friday, April 15. Scoliosis waivers were sent home Monday, April 11.

Islands Fundraiser
Please join us for a St. Dominic School Family Night this Wednesday, April 6 at Islands. Islands is located at 117 W. Broadway in Glendale. Bring and present your flyer to your server for St. Dominic to receive 20% of all purchases.

See’s Candy
Please return your Spring See’s Candy fundraiser order form by tomorrow, Wednesday April 6. If you have any questions please feel free to call Mrs. Matas at 323-336-2186.


Walk-a-Thon
Mr. & Mrs. Ponce will have a Walk-a-thon meeting tonight in the room next to the music room. Meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. All parents interested in earning service hours are welcome to come and help plan the walk-a-thon.


Scrip Sunday
We will be selling scrip this Sunday April 10 after the 7:30, 9:00, 10:45 and 12:15 Masses. If you need service hours and would like to volunteer please call the school office.

We will have special order forms that will be filled the following Wednesday, April 13.


School Choir
We will sing on Sunday, April 24, Easter Sunday, at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Please reserve this important date! Choir uniform is to be worn for Easter Sunday.  

Choir Field Trip date is changed to Thursday, May 19, probably to Knott’s Berry Farm, during the school day. We will
need adult (parent) chaperones. Thanks! Mr. Acosta

Keep Kids Safe Month
We celebrate Child Abuse Prevention during the month of April. Please review the “Five Body Safety Rules” with your child/ren and teens. Included are some “Hints for Internet Safety for Children and Teens”

Our teachers will also review these rules and hints with students.

Girls “A” Softball Team
Thank you to our softball team parents for donating to the bake sale last Friday. The girls raised $130.25 on the bake sale.

Mathletics
St. Dominic School will purchase Mathletics a 12 month unlimited access (24 hours, 7 days a week) licenses for all students.

Mathletics is focused on ways for students to be engaged to boost their confidence and to achieve dramatic improvement.

Mathletics is simple and easy to use; used for at least one hour a week will show marked improvement in math results. Students get immediate feedback and know how they are progressing.

There are a variety of activities plus Concept Search tool, videos, Times tables Toons and math games.
