Friday Lunch
Our school office will sell  pizza lunch for $4.00 every Friday.

Lunch will include a slice of Papa John’s pizza, fruit, and a drink. All lunches are pre-ordered. You may pay by the week or month to St. Dominic School.

Just for Parents
Your Good-Touch/Bad-Touch booklet is included in this family envelope. This program is taught during religion class during the month of October.

Permission slips were distributed at Back to School Night. If you have not already returned your permission slip, please return it  to your child’s  teacher ASAP. Your child may not participate in this program without your written permission.

Family Life
Forms for participation in the Family Life program were also given out during Back to School Night. This program is taught during the month of January.

If you need more information regarding the program please ask the teacher to allow you to view the book used for the program.

Your child is not allowed to participate in this program without your written permission.

Shakey’s Night
Please join us at Shakey Pizza in Glendale tomorrow any time from 5:00 to8:00 p.m.  This is not a mandatory fundraiser but it is an opportunity to have some fun with friends and meet the new families.

Families need to present a St. Dominic flyer for the school to receive credit.

Students who attend the fundraiser may wear jeans on Friday, August 31. Students will be given a ticket by Mrs. Mates.

Internet
Your child needs written permission to use the internet at school. An internet permission form was given to parents during Back to School Night. This form allows students to use the internet for reading, math, and research. Your child will not be allowed to use the computers without written permission from a parent.

At certain times of the school year pictures or school work is used on our school website. Parents must give written permission for their child’s work, picture, or voice to be used for school website.

  Back to School Night
Come meet your child’s teacher at Back to School Night. The meeting will start at the lunch table awning at 7:20 p.m.

Kinder to fourth grade parents please come tonight, August 21.

Fifth to eighth grade parents please come tomorrow, Wednesday, August 22.

Come early and join us for a pasta dinner and chat with friends before you meet your child’s teacher. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. in the school lunch area.

Recess
The weather has been hot but the newly installed awning has been of some relief for students during morning recess and lunch recess.

The students were without the basketball nets last week. Leo has returned from vacation and has installed the nets. Play areas should resume to normal.

Lunch
Please pack your child plenty of water and/or juice for their morning recess and lunch. The children are asking for more water and juice from the school office. We do not sell juice or water in the student store.
It is extremely busy during the lunch duty for us to supervise and also sell at the student store.

Please remember to read the parent/student handbook on page 10. For safety reasons, please do not pack glass bottles or containers and metal knives, forks or spoons in lunches. No sodas, caffeinated or energy drinks are allowed.

Fresh & Easy
We need parent and eighth grade student volunteers for the Fresh and Easy Night on September 13. The Fresh and Easy Night is from 4-8:00 pm.

Welcome Back to School
Students and Parents!

Our first school events, Back to School Night and Pasta Dinner, are coming up next week. Come join us for a fun filled evening with friends and food.

  Back to School Night
Come meet your child’s teacher at Back to School Night on Tuesday and Wednesday. The meeting will start under the lunch table awning.

Kinder to fourth grade parents have  Back to School Night next Tuesday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Fifth to eighth grade parents have Back to School Night next Wednesday, August 22, at 7:30 p.m.

Pasta Dinner
Come and join us for a pasta dinner and chat with friends before you meet your child’s teacher. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. in the school lunch area.
Please pre-order your dinner by this Friday, August 17.

Coffee with the Principal
 As promised we had a raffle of  $350 to a family that registered before the end of last school year.

Yesterday, Fr. Peter picked the winning ticket during the coffee gathering. Mr. & Mrs. Rugayan, fifth grade parents, were the lucky winners. 


Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Wednesday, August 15 is a holy day of obligation.  We will attend the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Students are to be in complete uniform for Mass. Please have your child at school before 7:55 a.m.  
 
Friday Mass
Our first all school wide Mass of the school year is on Friday, August 17. Students are to wear their complete uniform. Students may not wear shorts tomorrow.

We encourage students to remember their donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Choice Lunch
If you are an eighth grade parent and are interested in earning lunch credit for your child call the school office ASAP.

You must be fingerprinted and have attended a Virtus class to volunteer to serve.

Choice Lunch starts on Monday, August 20. Please pre-order online.  Your password is DOMINIC.

Friday Lunch
Choice Lunch will not provide lunch on Fridays. Our school office will provide Papa John pizza lunch for $4.00.

Lunch will include a slice of pizza, chips and a drink. All lunches are pre-ordered.

Shade Covering
You might have noticed a green awning that was installed on the playground area.

Families that pledged during the Walk-a-Thon have provided shade for all students.

We thank all the parents that participated during the Walk-a-Thon pledges.

Tree Pots
Each year during the summer we have an opportunity to work on improving the school environment. This summer we had some parents paint the front of some classrooms. We also purchased 9 trees and flowers.
