Jeans Day
This coming Friday, April 26, the students have an opportunity to wear jeans for $1.00. Any other accessories will cost an additional $1.00 each.

Walk-a-Thon Meeting
There will be a Walk-a-Thon planning meeting this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the school library. This is your last chance to earn service hours if you are short of hours.

Walk-a-Thon T-Shirt Design Winners
Congratulations to 8th graders John Durano and Gabriel Manabat for winning the Walk-a-Thon
t-shirt design contest. There were many great submissions this year. Thank you to all the  students who submitted designs.

We will take sizes for all students this week as we need to order the t-shirts by this Wednesday. We will call each student to the school office and ask if they would like to change their shirt size. If a student is absent or does not know what size they want, we will use last year’s size. Please advise your child if you want them to order a different size.

iPad Program!
We are so excited to announce that with the funds raised by the Friday Pizza Lunches and the occasional parking lot rentals, St. Dominic School has been able to purchase 20 iPads!
The iPads will be in a rolling cart to be used by the teachers.

This week, four teachers and I will meet to establish an Electronic Communication and Usage policy. These rules will be reviewed with the students and parents and students will be asked to read, agree and sign in order to use the school iPads.

SchoolStore.com
St. Dominic will receive CASH from over 200 of America’s best online retail merchants by joining schoolstore.com. Companies like Sears, Target, Kohl’s, Walmart, Walgreens, and Office Depot all participate in schoolstore.com.

Each student will receive a paper to “spread the news.” Students who participate have the chance to win awesome prizes!

VIP Casino Winners
The 5th grade class is the lucky winner of an ice cream party on Friday compliments of Mrs. Duke.

The 8th grade class is another lucky winner. They will receive a pizza party and may also wear free dress this Friday. The party was a silent auction bid won by the 8th grade parents.

Choicelunch
Choicelunch has provided lunch service for St. Dominic’s for 3 years. While pricing didn’t increase for the current school year,
pricing will increase for the 2013-2014 school year. Choicelunch will increase the lunches $0.10 (an increase of less than 2.5%).

The LunchMaster
The LunchMaster has approached our school to provide lunch service for the coming school year. The lunches and prices seem
to be similar to our current lunch service. Please visit www.thelunchmaster.combefore the May 15th mandatory PTO meeting.

LunchMaster is willing to provide samples for the parents. The staff has already sampled some the healthy lunches.

Wacky Week
The students look forward to this crazy, spirited week. Students are allowed to wear wacky socks with their school uniform on Tue.
April 23. On Wed. April 24, students may wear their uniforms backwards or inside out or. On Thu. April 25, students are allowed to
wear a crazy hair style or different colored hair (although their hair must be shampooed and back to its normal color by Friday).

The School Choir will sing at Pentecost Mass, on Saturday, May 18, at 5 p.m.

Choir Field Trip

With the help of our 8th grade volunteers, they will again be joining forces with CERB (Collaborative Eagle Rock Beautiful) to clean up our community on Sat. April 27, from 9 a.m.- noon. Everyone will grab their brooms and trash bags at Eagle Rock City Hall and walk around picking up trash. Our 8th graders will earn service hours for their participation and we thank them for their assistance.

Goodwill
Start looking through your closets, garages, attics, under the bed, etc., because we want your stuff ! Throughout the summer our Marketing Team will be collecting unwanted, clean, sellable items for our Goodwill Donation drive which will take place every Sunday during summer vacation. Please pass the word to your family, friends, and neighbors that we will gladly receive their donations. Because of your generosity, last year we exceeded our goal of filling 1½ trucks. With these funds the Marketing Team can continue to help promote our school.
