Testing for Kinder and New Students
We are continuing to test new students for all grades.   Please call the office to make an appointment for your kinder and new students.

Scrip Sunday
We will be selling scrip on Sunday April 10 after the 7:30, 9:00, 10:45 and 12:15 Masses. If you need service hours and would like to volunteer please call the school office.

School Choir
We will sing on Sunday, April 24, Easter Sunday, at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Please reserve this important date! Choir uniform to be worn for Easter Sunday.  
Choir Field Trip is tentatively planned for Thursday, May 12, probably to Knott’s Berry Farm, during the school day. We will
need adult (parent) chaperones. (More detailed information very soon.)

Parent Updates
Service hours, meetings, raffle, casino night, and tuition up-dates will go home in the family envelope the end of April.

Parents needing to complete service hours will have the opportunity to volunteer during walk-a-thon event.
Scrip is included in your monthly tuition. If you are up to date with tuition your scrip will be up to date.

Parents of eighth grade students will have to complete all service hours, tuition, and other obligations by May 27.  All obligations must be cleared before graduation.

Lunch Program
First grade parents it’s your turn to volunteer for the April hot lunch program. Parents receive lunch credit of $20.00 for each hour you volunteer.  

Parents must be fingerprinted and attend Virtus before signing up to volunteer for the lunch program.

Please call the school office ASAP if you are interested in volunteering for the month of April.

Testing for Kinder and New Students
Testing for new students will continue this week. Please call the office to make an appointment for your kinder and new students.

Jeans Day
The jeans and accessories day to raise money for Japan was a success. All the money will go to help the people in Japan who are recovering from the earthquake and tsunami. Students donated $883.50 for the earthquake and tsunami victims.


Catholic Education Foundation 
All applications for tuition assistance were due February 25. If your application is incomplete it will not be processed. Please call the school office ASAP if your application is incomplete.

Registration
Student registration to reserve a seat for your student was due Friday, March 11. The student registration balance is due by

Thursday, March 31. If you have not returned the registration form please call the school office ASAP to let us know you are not returning.

Daughter Day
Thank you to all who attended the Daughter Day event! We had a wonderful time enjoying the live play and lunch together. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Hadley who provided the amazing food, and deserts! A meal fit for a Royal Princess! The day was put together with the help of our amazing moms, Yolanda Sanchez, Melissa Aguirre, Esmeralda Moreno, Frida Flores, Irene Morado, Claudia Guardado, Maria Albert and Renee Galvez. We also had the help of our eighth grade boys, they did a great job.

Family Mass
We want to thank parents and students for attending our second grade family Mass. It was wonderful to celebrate after Mass with the second grade families.
 
St. Vincent de Paul Clothing Drive
We want to thank our third and fifth graders on their service project. They donated clothing. Our students and their parents came out on Sunday, March 13 to assist with the donations.

PTO Meeting
Parents voted during our PTO meeting to start with the 200 calendar days for the in-coming school year. Tuition rates for 2011-2012 were given. It was stressed that the tuition rates did not include the $200 scrip obligation that parents voted to keep at the Jan. 12 PTO meeting.

Advance math placement for 4-8 grade was mentioned for the incoming 200 days school year.

Yearbook
It’s time to pre-order your year book! Order your yearbook by April 21 for only $30.00. After April cost of yearbook goes up to $35.00.

Testing for Kinder and New Students
Testing will start Monday, March 14 to Friday, March 25. Kinder testing will take 15-20 minutes. Grades 1-7 testing will take approximately one hour.



Testing will be at 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 2:00-4:00 p.m. Please call the office to make an appointment for your kinder and new students.

Mrs. Oliver’s Retirement
Mrs. Congote, Mrs. Morado, and Mrs. Rivas will help out with planning a Pot Luck celebration.
If you are interested in helping with the celebration for Mrs. Oliver please call the school office ASAP.

Our students and staff will have a separate celebration at school for Mrs. Oliver. Parents are invited to the student celebration.

Jeans Day
There will be a jeans and accessories day this Thursday, March 17. All the money will go to help the people in Japan who are recovering from the earthquake and tsunami. You are encouraged to wear a green shirt since Thursday is St. Patrick’s Day.


Religious Congress
No School Friday, March 18. Teachers and staff are at the Religious Education Congress.

Report Cards
All students will receive report cards today, March 15. If you have any questions please call for a conferences.



Honor Roll
We will have an honor roll assembly for the second trimester on Thursday, March 17. The honor assembly will be in the lunch area at 1:00 p.m.

Fat Tuesday/International Food Day
Thank you to parents for donating food and items to make this event FUN for the students! This is an event our students always look forward to having.

Ash Wednesday/Retreat
Students will attend Mass at 9:00 a.m. and receive ashes after Mass. Please have students wear their complete uniform, no shorts. Students will be in retreat in preparation for Lent.

PTO General Meeting
Our fourth general parent meeting will be tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall.

Parking Lot & Merton Ave Closed
This Friday, March 11 our parking lot and
Merton Ave.
will be closed all day.
St. Dominic School receives a donation for the parking lot rental.  

Family Mass
Join our second grade families for 5:00 p.m. Mass this Saturday, March 12. 

St. Vincent de Paul Clothing Drive
The third and fifth grade would like to invite the school families to support our service project by donating clothing that is clean, usable, and in fairly good shape. You may drop off clothing in bags to our classrooms
(3/7-3/11) or you may bring them to the truck on March 13 in the Church parking lot.


Kindness Club
The second recipient of the Kindness Club Award is the Student Council: Third grade
has notices that they show kindness by: Leading us in prayer, this helps us to be closer to God; acting out skits, so we learn to do good things; having fundraisers to support charities and groups in need; saying the announcement, tells us about important things; are in charge of pep rallies, which are fun activities that make us laugh and be happy; being happy and energetic, they
show that they are ready to lead us; being role models to show younger kids to do the right things.

Yearbook
We are in need of photos for our 85th anniversary yearbook. Do you have any sport, holiday or event photos that you can spare? Please send them to the class room teacher or to the school office ASAP. The photos will not be returned to parents.

Testing for Kinder and New Students

We want to thank Isabeau Reyes, Danica Tagupa, Tiffany Vega, Melissa Morado, Gabriel Alpuerto, Ryan Ventigan, Christopher Bonnin, Ryan Austin Nufable, Alexander Gonzales and Lily Phaneuf for competing in the academic decathlon.

Our parents were awesome! They set-up tents, chairs, food and drinks for our families. Thank you parents for your support!


Casino Night
We would like once again thank Mrs. Congote for the successful Casino Night Event.

I apologize to the Casino Night Committee members that were not mentioned in the memo last week.

We want to thank Mr. Duke, Mrs. Palacios, Mrs. Cazian, Mrs. Regalado, Mr. Ponce, Mr. Corletto, and Mr. Alex Perez for their great work during the Casino Night event. With your support and efforts the event was  successful.

Casino Night
I want to thank Renee Congote for the awesome dedication to the return of our Casino Night. The night was a great success!

Congratulations to our league conference champions;

Discovering Our Faith
Please join us for our seventh series of lectures next Tuesday, March 8 in the parish hall from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Please bring the Catholic Catechism and review
the Communion of Saints and Mary.

Registration
Student registration has gone up $20.00 from $330 to $350. You are asked to pay a $100 non-refundable deposit per child due by March 31, 2011.

Fat Tuesday/International Food Day
If you need service hours and are interested in assisting Ms. Lujan with Fat Tuesday please call the school office ASAP.

Tuitions Rates
Our tuition rates are up by 10% for the first child and three children. For two children it is up by 16%.

Smart program fees will continue at $43.00.


Safety Valet
Need service hours! We are in need of parents during the morning safety valet from 7:30-8:00 a.m. Please don’t wait until your grade has a turn for valet. You earn service hours!

Daughter Day Event The Daughter Day event is schedule for March 19th. We will enjoy the live performance of “Cinderella” at the Glendale Theater. Following the performance we will meet in the dance hall for a lunch reception. Submit your reservations and payments now to enjoy this memorable day!

Saint Mary Magdalene
Tomorrow, March 2 our students will attend veneration for St. Mary Magdalene at 1:00 p.m. in church.

A portion of the tibia of Saint Mary Magdalene is enclosed in a glass tube and reliquary.
