Happy New Year Blessings to all our Families!
Bell Schedule
Our bell system in the school office is set by cell phone time. The clocks in our front office and classrooms might be a few minutes ahead or behind as the clocks run on battery.
WASC/WCEA Writing
We will be going through an accreditation process next school year. This year we are preparing a book that represents our school.
Included in the process are surveys from students, teachers, the pastor, and parents. We prepare an in-depth review of our curriculum, Catholic Identity, and school wide student learning expectations.
Friday, January 13 is the second day that we devote to the writing process.

Discovering Our Faith
Join Fr. Michael for his lecture on Law and Grace on Tuesday, Jan. 17 in the religious education building. He will lecture on the different kinds of laws and how they affect our moral lives. He will lecture on Sanctifying grace and actual grace: what they are and how they affect our moral lives.
Please read from Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraphs 1949 through 2051.

Our third mandatory parent meeting is on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m.

All updates include all responsibilities to the end of Dec. 2011.
Fresh & Easy
It is time to turn in Fresh & Easy receipts up to the end of Dec. 31, 2011.
Hospitality
We want to thank Tera Perez, Manya Acosta, and Maria Gutierrez for their hospitality and the wonderful treats during our Dec. 14 Christmas Program. Thank you to the parents for donating the treats.
Parents and students enjoyed the hot coffee and hot chocolate during the cold weather. The refreshments and hospitality added to the Christmas spirit of the evening.
Schoolwide Learning Expectations
These are the Schoolwide Learning Expectations students are expected to review this week.
A graduate of St. Dominic Parish School will be…
An active and involved student who:
- is a self-motivated, lifelong learner who has the skills and technological knowledge to succeed.
- has a solid foundation in the academic subjects and appreciation of the Arts.
- communicates effectively, thinks critically, and is a creative problem solver.
A committed Catholic who:
- has a firm foundation in, knowledge of, and love of the Faith.
- actively participates in the Mass, sacraments and traditions of the Church.
Food for Family Thought
Try this for fun. Have each family member pull from a hat the name of a family member. Include extended family members, is possible. For a whole week, ask each person to pray for the family member whose name he or she picked. At the end of the week, reveal everyone’s “Secret Pal.”
If you could release helium balloon with a message card attached to the end of the string, what message would you write for the unknown recipient to read?
