International Food Day
Fat Tuesday
Our annual Fat Tuesday is in two weeks. We ask each family to contribute a traditional family dish for the International Food Day (Fat Tuesday).
Students wishing to purchase a lunch for this day will pre-pay $3.00. We will not have Choicelunch on International Food Day.
We will need parents to assist with the serving, set-up and clean-up. If you need service hours and can assist please call the school office ASAP.
Casino Night
Our Casino Night Committee and Francine Viduarri are busy soliciting for goods and gift certificates from local businesses to make the Casino Night event a success.
Please come to the meetings if you need to earn service hours and would like to assist.
The mandatory $75 fee is due in the school office by Friday, Feb. 17. Although the event has been moved to May 5, the mandatory fee is needed for operational expenses budgeted in February.
Walk-a-Thon
Mr. Ponce and Walk-a-Thon committee have been working hard to plan a spectacular event this year and they have big plans to raise funds above and beyond the mandatory $75. The goal is to raise enough money to install shade in the large play area and make other improvements in the classrooms.
The students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade are encouraged to solicit pledges of $60 each; students in 4th-7th are encouraged to solicit pledges of $50 each; the 8th graders are encouraged to solicit pledges of $20 each. The recommended pledge amounts are scaled to reflect the fact that the students in lower grades will enjoy the benefit of the improvements longer.
Food for Family Thought
Children need our feedback. But be sure to tell the whole story. While it’s important that we help our children gain self-discipline by correcting them when they’ve slipped, we also should commend them when they act virtuously
and remind them of their truest identity—as beloved sons and daughters of God.
If you asked five people who know you to write down the one word that they think best describes you, what do you think would be the most common answer?
(Consider the answer carefully from their viewpoint, not yours.)
